Join the LSU University Laboratory School in the second year of Poetry Out Loud contest to bring the ancient art of poetry recitation to our campus community. High school students will study and perform poems chosen from a variety of wonderful poets, first in the classroom, and then on stage for the opportunity to compete in a school*wide contest. The winner will compete at a local, city-wide contest, with a chance to perform at the state contest and a chance to advance, expenses paid, to the national level. Winners not only learn great poetry, they have the opportunity to win cash awards for themselves and their school.
RESERVE THE DATE: School-wide Poetry Out Loud contest will be held in the LSU University Laboratory School auditorium on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6:00P.M. - 8:00P.M.
Poetry Out Loud is creation of the joint efforts of The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation which encourage youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. Arts-in-Education, Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism sponsors and oversees our school-wide, city-wide and state contests.
